Noumea – New Caledonia

Noumea photo 1

Nouméa is a vibrant city where the South Pacific meets the French Riviera with its French-inspired architecture and cosmopolitan lifestyle.

It is a pleasure to stroll through Nouméa along the Place des Cocotiers embellished by fabulous flame trees, around its monumental fountain and the old time music kiosk.

Continue along the streets flanked by old colonial houses, the bays highlighted by hibiscus and bougainvilleas, the marina, an inspiring contemporary architectural design and on to beaches gently caressed by the trade winds, for everybody to enjoy, right in the heart of the city.

Discover the market by the Bay de la Moselle, which is open every day. Here, you can taste local fruits and vegetables and buy arts and crafts.

Lifou - New Caledonia

Lifou is the largest coral atoll in the Loyalty islands. Lifou has the wonderful charm of an island that has managed to preserve its own traditional Kanak culture. Coral levels make up Lifou’s base, creating cliffs which plunge into the ocean and white sand beaches. Lifou is special in that it has a number of diversified landscapes; the northern coast of the island is made up of high, steep cliffs, whilst the southern side has pristine white sand beaches with stunning turquoise waters.

Port Vila - Vanuatu

Noumea photo 3

It may be oceans away, but the welcome will make you feel right at home. From the moment you arrive you’re greeted with a big ol’ smile. And to make you feel extra special, the locals set up their markets at the port just for you. So get your pirate persona out and hunt for some treasures me hearties.

And the cheer continues as you venture further into the city. Even though Port Vila is Vanuatu’s busiest harbour, the people are famed for their ‘good mornings!’ And of course there’s the hearty traditional food to warm your belly. You’ll even find some (not so traditional) Aussie meat pies.
Yep, the people of Port Vila go to great lengths to make you feel right at home. It kinda feels like a big Vanuatu group hug.
